Our Governors

What is a school governor?

School governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to the lives and learning of all children at Aldrington. Governors are volunteers who meet regularly all together and in smaller groups to discuss important issues affecting our school such as how money is spent, how our curriculum is taught and how to keep everyone safe. The governors at Aldrington also work to support our teachers and maintain the unique ethos of our school.

The Governing body at Aldrington CE Primary School reflects the community in which the school  exists, comprising representatives from local churches linked to the school, people in industry and vocational employment, workers in education, staff and parents of the school. Governors are committed to the school’s visions and values and place a high priority on communicating with the school community- you will often find governors around school interacting with staff and children (on a day to day basis, at parent evenings and other school events); monitoring and challenging changes in the curriculum, behaviour and learning and the fabric of the school building whilst also ensuring the ethos of our school is upheld. Governors attend training provided by Brighton and Hove Authority to ensure that their role is carried out effectively.

Governors meet as a full body twice a term and in smaller committees with responsibility for specific areas.  In this section you can find out who the governors at Aldrington are and read the minutes of both Full Governing body meetings and those of our four committees:
